Undestanding Movement:

Cutting Off, Slashing, or Striking - Arm Movements

Sound effects the atmosphere.  Specific sounds do specific things.  Like sound, movement effects the atmosphere, and specific movements can do specific things.  A dancer moving in the power of  God and the gift of prophecy can do intercessory warfare with their dance, and break bondages and set captives free.

In order to understand the power by the Spirit, that our movements can have, we must start looking at certain words for specific types of movements (and their outcomes), in the Word of God.

I would like to say, that just as we speak in our heavenly language at will (being instant in season and out), we can choose to tap into the Holy Spirit and operate authoritatively in the dance.

I'm saying that we can, on purpose, come against the enemy of God, with our movements as well as, with our mouths.

What I'm not saying is that we should cause interruption, or distraction by our actions.  Everything is to be done decently and in order and staying in line with the rules of the House you are in at the time.

Just as the prophets of old had Schools for the Prophets (II Kings 2: 3, 4, 7, 15), we too can learn about operating in the prophetic and prophetic acts.  What I am  hoping to reveal is that specific movements under the anointing of the Holy Spirit are effective against the enemy.  You will not find any direct instruction or direct revelation in the Holy Bible for prophetic acts, but we do see many examples of the prophets themselves being examples of the prophetic and doing prophetic things.

These are not formulas, but through prayer, fasting, exposure, experience, and practice, prophetic acts can be tools in our arsenals.

I would also like to say that moving in the prophetic is a growing experience.  If you are young in the Lord, I would recommend that you stay with less warfare type motions.  The enemy has levels in his camp just as the King has levels in His army.  In other words, be careful not to bite off more than you can chew, spiritually speaking.  Grow in the Lord; grow in wisdom; and grow in your levels of where you are able to practice your warfare.

This movement would be best described as a quick, strong motion with the hand and arm (hand held karate style), from top corner to opposite bottom corner, and similar slashing, striking type motions.  I've found this movement to be particularly powerful when using a warfare (camo type) flag(s). The combination of the movements and the sound the flag makes slashing through the atmosphere, is very, very powerful.

Greek (Strong's G1581)  Ekkopto,  and Hebrew (Strong's H7113) Ek kopto   =   Cut Off  and Aramaic (Strong's H1414) Gedad  =  to cut down

Ekkopto:  cut off, cut down, cut out, entirely remove; complete severance; figuratively: to frustrate, to hinder

Some Scriptures:

Matthew 5:30   And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut (ekkopto) it off and throw it away.  It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Matthew 3:10  …therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn (ekkopto) down, and cast into the fire.

Luke 13:7  Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none:  cut (ekkopto) it down;…

Romans 11:22  Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God:  on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness:  otherwise thou also shalt be cut off (ekkopto).

Daniel 4:14  He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew (Strong's Heb 1414) down the tree, and cut off (ek kopto Strong's H7113) his branches, shake off (related to nathar Strong's Heb 5426) his leaves, and scatter his fruit:...

Hebrew (Strong's H1438) gaza   -- to cut, hew, chop, cut down, hew down, hew off, cut off, cut in two, shave off

Some Scriptures:

Deuteronomy 7:5  But thus shall ye deal with them, ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down (gaza Strong's H1438) their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.

Psalm 107:16  For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut (Strong's H1438) the bars of iron in sunder.

Isaiah 10:33 Behold the Lord, the Lord of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror:  and the high ones of stature shall be hewn (Strong's H1438) down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

Psalm 75:10  All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off (Strong's H8762, stems from Piel which is also cutting off H8840); but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Hebrew (Strong's H5221) nakah:  To Strike down, to smite

Jeremiah 21:6  And I will strike down(nakah, Strong's H5221) the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast….

Ultimately, our goal as prophetic dancers is to learn how to:

reach the lost;  heal the sick, wounded, and brokenhearted; open spiritual prison doors and set captives free; and to proclaim the Word and desires of the Lord  –

all, initially and powerfully in our own lives, and then to go forth with the same attained liberty and effect the lives of others.

A note:  “Although praise and worship are powerful weapons of war, applying them in word or dance does not create a foolproof (mini) formula.  One cannot simply say, 'Praise the Lord,' and have all his troubles disappear.  There has always been great prayer, faith, fasting, humility, and intense study of the Word, along with true heartfelt praise and secret-place worship, that caused the praises and declarations of God's people to be powerful weapons against their enemies.!”  Lynn Hayden
